The Table of White Supremacy was inspired by the ways we as a society are complicit in supporting an unjust system that thrives on our oppression and desire for “a seat at the table.” This tablescape was presented in 2018 at The Baltimore Museum of Art as a part of their Open Hours series. In many ways, a feast is the perfect example of White Supremacy at work. People of color, women, and queer people are often underrepresented at power tables. When they are present, they are often subject to abuse or contribute to an abusive culture that is the byproduct of supremacy. In this piece, comestibles and vessels on the table represent the byproduct of a supremacist, capitalist, and patriarchal society. To demonstrate how we are all at times knowingly and unknowingly complicit in our own opression, the table feast was enjoyed by attendees after a brief artist’s talk and presentation of the work.
